Career Firefighter / EMT
Position Opening
Nature of Position: Employees will be responsible for staffing basic life support ambulances on a daily basis, providing
emergency medical care & transportation. Conduct fire suppression activities, employees must be able to utilize hose
lines and ladders, and also perform duties with self-contained breathing apparatus.
Responsibilities will also include: Routine checks on equipment and tools, house cleaning, hall duties, as well as fire
prevention, administrative functions and logistical support as needed.
Salary: Currently $15.30 Per Hour Per Union Contract

Employees must pass a pre-employment physical examination, criminal background check, reference verification and
substance abuse screening. Annual physical examinations will also be required. There will be a one [1] year
probationary period for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least twenty one (21) years of age.
• Possess a valid State of Delaware Drivers License, (Class ‘B’ Non-CDL preferred) and Emergency Vehicle
Operator Certification.
• Must provide a certified copy of driving record from the Division of Motor Vehicle.
• Must provide documented proof that a criminal background check has been requested from the Delaware State
Police.
• Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Knowledge of computer applications used to complete various reports, including use of the EDIN system.
• Current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification and AED.
Must Have Successfully Completed and Provide Documented Proof of the Following:
• NREMT-B & State of Delaware EMT-B certified.
• Basic Firefighting Skills [Fire I] or equivalent.
• Structural Firefighting Skills [Fire II] or equivalent.
• Hazardous Materials Response Skills or equivalent.
• Vehicle Rescue or equivalent.
• Pump Operator.
