A bicyclist suffered minor injuries
Tuesday after a car crashed into
him in Greenville.

State police said the accident
occurred at 5:18 p.m. at the

59, of Wilmington, was driving a

He was stopped in traffic in the northbound lanes of Kennett Pike behind

and turned into the path of the bicyclist. Edward Stopyra, 42, of Newark, was
riding on the shoulder of the road. He was thrown to the ground after crashing
into the passenger side of the Saturn.

Stopyra, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Christiana Hospital.
Deyenno was cited for failing to yield making a left turn.

On Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 1156 hours, Station 16 was dispatched to
assist Sta. 23 on a house fire at 110 MacArthur Dr., Pleasant Hills. Ladder
16(crew of 5) and 16-5(crew of 3) responded along with Engine 30 and
Engine 17. Units arrived on scene and reported smoke showing.

Ladder 16's crew was assigned by Command(23-8) to ladder the structure
and perform outside ventilation. Initial interior crews found a basement fire
and initiated an attack with two 1-3/4" hand lines. 16-5's crew was assigned
to the first floor with crews from 17-2 and 17-5 and began pulling ceilings and
opening walls checking for extension. Fire was found to be extending through
the walls from the basement to the attic in several locations. Crews from 16
and 17 prevented any significant extension into the attic. The initial attack
crews did an excellent job in knocking down the fire. Extensive overhaul was
necessary. The outside temperatures in the 90's amde this a difficult
operation, however, no injuries were reported. There was extensive fire
damage to the basement and moderate fire damage to the first floor. Smoke
damage was extensive throughout the structure. Command placed the fire
under control in about 30 minutes with crews remaining on scene for a total of
2-1/2 hours.
